Online classes
Since the COVID 19 Pandemic most colleges have adopted the online learning system, and some still keep it around today. Online classes allow working students to take their classes virtually instead of the traditional face-to-face setup. With online classes, students will be able to finish their education remotely using any device with a stable internet connection.
The working student would have all their classes online via Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or any virtual meeting application the college chooses. All their assignments and outputs would also be submitted online via Learning management systems such as Canvas, Brightspace, Google Classroom, or websites created by the college. The coursework would still be the same or similar compared to its face-to-face counterpart but adapted to fit online learning.
Online classes should be an option working students can take in order for them to be able to still pursue education while they work. Working students often have to commute from school to work, then back home, which can be exhausting and costly. With online classes, the school day will be significantly shorter for working students, as they would only need to attend their virtual classes and then do their assignments; commuting time from home to school is eliminated as they can do everything from home. This also allows working students to take more hours at their work, or take more time to rest. Online classes are a good alternative for full-time workers, as it allows them to continue their education without having to give up their job.
Online classes make education more accessible to others as well. Working students aren't the only students who would benefit from online classes. Students who live far away and cannot afford housing or dorms near campus, students who have health conditions that prevent them from attending school, and students who are the primary caretakers of their homes and/or siblings. These students and plenty more would benefit from online classes as it makes learning easier and more efficient. And as online learning takes place entirely online, classroom/laboratory fees can be waived for working students’ tuition.
