Working student organizations/associations

A Working student organization/association is a community of working students gathered together. The organization/association’s purpose is to provide a space just for working students, where they can meet, socialize, network, and get to know other working students. Working students can also help each other out with job referrals, advice, schoolwork and emotional support. Aside from helping working students the organization/associaction can create fun activities  to help destress and relax working students from their busy schedules. Overall a working student organization/association acts as a voice for working students to be heard and seen. 

Every college may have a different system with forming and operating organizations/associations, but generally a working student organization/association should have an advisor for guidance and to help communicate with the college, officers to maintain and plan events, and of course members. There should also be a physical location within the campus where the organization/association can meet, but a virtual place such as messenger or discord does just as well.  

Giving working students a community of other working students can help them feel seen and less alone. An organization/association represents the working student community therefore if a working student has a concern the organization/association can bring it to the attention of administrators. 

Other students can join the organization/association to be able to get to now working students and working student life better. Students who are also interested in finding work can also join to have assistance in finding work.
