Working Student Helpline

The working student helpline is an extension of counseling services for working students. Many working students aren’t able to avail themselves of their college counseling services due to full bookings or no availability during their free time. The helpline allows them to be able to book and avail of counseling services. 

The college can recruit more counselors and train them to be able to council, and empathize with working students better. They can also open more slots and scheduling options so working students can have more chances to avail of counseling services. When availing of counseling, the working student can leaves note that tells the counselor that they want counseling for working student related issues. By expanding counseling services more students wil be able to avail of them.  

Working students experience mental health problems from the pressure of balancing work and academics, the heavy workload of both responsibilities, fatigue from overworking and rarely taking adequate breaks. They may also encounter conflicts with classes, peers, or work. Regardless there are times when they want to seek out counseling, but sometimes they cannot Due to lack of availability, as well as some councilors not being able to properly advise/council working students (telling them the only solution is to quit their job or drop out of school).
