The Food Subsidy Program offers student assistance by offering working students affordable and filling meals while they\u2019re on campus. By aiding students in obtaining filling meals at a reduced cost, the program seeks to lessen food insecurity by preventing financial hardships by offering them basic nutritional needs.

A 50 peso meal coupon can be used daily at the campus cafeteria and will be given to eligible students. To reduce food waste, unsold cafeteria meals may also be given away for free or at a reduced cost when they become available near closing time. The office of student affairs determines eligibility, and students who want to participate must show a valid school ID and documentation of their financial need, like a financial hardship statement. To guarantee that the aid is given fairly and sustainably, coupon distribution and redemption is tracked.

By increasing the availability of nutritious meals and reducing the need to rely on cheap and unhealthy food options or skip meals entirely, the program benefits working students. A healthy diet promotes better focus, energy levels, and general well being, which helps students stay focused in class and carry out their academic and professional obligations more successfully. The  program also improves mental health, and reduces stress related to food insecurity by lowering the cost of daily meals.

As it makes use of extra food that might go to waste and optimizes current cafeteria operations, the program is affordable.
